Apple Season in North GA
Apple season is here in North Georgia, and it's my favorite time of year on the land.
Out in the fields, the final hay is being cut and baled, and the smell of it drying in the afternoon sun is about as good as it gets. The stands along the road are open again, and the boiled peanuts are hot. Yum yum. There's no better roadside snack between Canton and the mountains.
Fall is the season for my family.
The mornings have turned cool, and the leaves are starting to turn. The whole of North Georgia seems to slow down for a few weeks before the holidays come calling, and it's the kind of season that makes you want to be outside.
If you own land, this is the time to go walk it. The heat is gone and the brush has opened up, so you can see the place the way it really is: where the ridges rise, where the creeks run, and where a homesite could sit. You can't put a price on knowing your own ground, and fall is the easiest time to get to know it.
And if you own land and have wondered what it might be worth, or what happens when the time comes to pass it on, fall is a fine time for a plain conversation. No pressure, no obligation, just a straight talk about your options. That's how we do things down here.
From my family to yours, enjoy the season.
